Burning Daylight Outfitters is a professional outfitting and hunting organization located north of Steamboat Springs, near the small community of Clark, in Northwest Colorado. Burning Daylight Outfitters offers fully guided hunts, semi-guided hunts, father/son hunts, trespass hunts, drop camps and professional packing services. All of our guided hunts take place on a private ranch, with several thousand acres in the midst of Colorado's premier elk habitat. Land management is the key to a successful hunt. Our property is well managed for a very large elk population and we take great pride in the stewardship of this prime elk environment. Large herds of elk populate the ranch and have made this property their home. Several years ago Bugle Magazine featured this area as holding the largest herd of elk in the Northwestern region and our property is right in the middle of it. The scenery is incredible and the elk hunts are extraordinary.

Fully Guided Bull Elk Hunts - Burning Daylight Outfitters specializes in premier, private land, big game hunts. Our fully guided elk hunts include breakfast, lunch, an incredible dinner each day, plenty of snacks and drinks for your hunt, and first-class lodging accommodations for a five, consecutive day hunt. Lodging accommodations include clean, comfortable, modern cabins, conveniently located close to the hunting property. Hunters and guides go out to the hunting property each morning and return in the evenings to shower, socialize and enjoy a hot meal and a soft comfortable bed. Gun sighting, a safety orientation and introductory dinner the night prior to opening day are also included. All clients are required to arrive the day prior to opening day, so that they may attend. Burning Daylight Outfitters prides itself on offering premier services for our clients. We have very experienced, professional guides and keep our guide to hunter ratio low; two hunters per guide is the maximum, but more often than not, it's one guide per hunter. Guides are in close contact with our clients at all times, and assist them in every aspect of the hunting experience. The hunting areas are beautiful, brimming with pine, aspen and open meadows, abundant in wildlife.

Semi-Guided Bull Elk Hunts - Our semi-guided hunts are a great avenue for the experienced hunter with a little smaller budget! Burning Daylight Outfitters offers semi-guided hunts on premier, private property where hunters have great opportunities to fill their tags. Our professional guides work with the clients the day prior to hunting; sighting in weapons, practicing game calls, and giving other helpful pointers to assist the hunter in having a successful hunt. Our semi-guided hunts are for three consecutive days (four including coaching day). Each morning, a guide accompanies the hunter to a ground blind. Our ground blinds have been positioned in high elk traffic areas or near popular feeding grounds and elk meadows, allowing great opportunities for hunters to see a lot of game. The hunter stays in the blind for their hunt and is not permitted to walk around or stalk game. The guide does not stay with the hunter, but remains in close vicinity, and will return later that day to retrieve the hunter, or when notified of a kill, to assist the client with cleaning, dressing and animal transportation. These hunts are designed for experienced, patient hunters that want to hunt from a blind in an area with a high elk population and few hunters. An ideal situation for older hunters that have difficulty hiking.

Fully Guided Cow Elk Hunts - The cow elk hunts at Burning Daylight Outfitters also take place on our private land. These fully guided, 3 day hunts were designed specifically for "meat hunters" and give hunters the opportunity to fill their freezers with lean, delicious prime elk meat without emptying their wallets. These hunts are offered both with and without the meals and lodging package, so a hunter can come in and just concentrate on the hunt, or have the incredible opportunity of experiencing the great camaraderie that we share with our clients.

Father/Son (or daughter) Youth Hunts - Burning Daylight Outfitters also strongly supports father/son hunts. There's a solid need to encourage today's youth in partaking in these incredible outdoor adventures and we truly enjoy helping create these family bonds and enhancing the continuation of hunting traditions. Hunting and herd management is a very important aspect in the preservation of our wildlife. Our father/son hunts are centered on encouraging young hunters to learn and implement strong, safe hunting skills, in hopes that they will carry on these great outdoor traditions. All youth hunters must be accompanied by a "fully guided hunting parent". Special rates apply to both hunters. Youth licenses are available in Colorado between the ages of 12 - 17. VERY IMPORTANT - Limited Hunting Positions - To ensure the protection and habitual patterns of the elk, we strictly limit the number of hunting positions per season, so early reservations are highly recommended. Positions are offered on a first come, first serve basis, but many return clients reserve positions a year in advance. Both fully guided and semi-guided positions are limited. We never go over our established number of positions. If you're interested in hunting with us, please reserve your position as soon as possible in order to guaranty your spot.

Success Rate - Our success rate over the past two years has been 100%, however, we cannot guaranty our hunts. In the past, our success rate has never been below 96%, so clients are presented with a great opportunity to fill their tags.

Hunter Education Requirements - By Colorado statute, everyone born on or after January 1, 1949 who applies for a Colorado hunting license or preference point must have successfully completed an approved hunter education course. All hunters must meet Colorado hunter education requirements.
